Wednesday is an official silly day at our house - I work 4 days a week and it's the only day that Ry and I hang out on our own, so I try to find fun competitions and projects we can work on together! Today we were up early and on a bit of a mission to enter as many comps as we could - so here's our photo diary...
8am - Rice Krispies for breakfast, then it's time for the felt tips as Ry colours in the box for the Britmums Rice Krispies bloggers competition (you'll have to wait till I blog about this to see the finished result!)
8.30am - Rustle up some banana muffins
9am - Pop to Sainsbury's to stock up on Choccy Philly, WKD, Smarties and Paper plates (more about those later)
9.30am - Top the muffins with Choccy Philly and Olympic Smarties for the 'Go silly with Philly' Facebook competition. It's some years since I've bought Smarties and I'm somewhat disappointed at the pastel shades. E numbers would give me a far better representation of the Olympic colours!
9.45am - Realise that the Choccy Philly is a Cadbury product, so swiftly take another photo of the muffins without the Smarties!
10am - take a photo of Ry with the finished muffins for the Lakeland 'I Can Cook' photo comp!
10.10am - My comping mate Lisa arrives and we whisk the kids off to the park, where I attempt some form of gymnastics for the Links of London flag waving photo challenge.
12.00pm - Back home I realise my gymnastics shot doesn't fit this week's 'sunshine' brief at all, so I construct a sandcastle in the garden instead. Ry isn't impressed.
1.00pm - Whilst Ry snoozes I decide to knock back some WKD for their Planet Purple photo competition (this is a great one to enter - twenty prizes of £20 every week!). Luckily I've mastered the art of sticking the camera on a chair, then on the table and using the self-timer!
2.30pm - It's painting time! I saw this simple Olympic ring project on Pinterest ages ago and wanted to give it a go, and the Scotch UK Crafty Little Masterpieces competition is perfect! First, paint five paper plates...
When they're dry, cut out the middles. Then snip through each one and interlock them just like the Olympic rings - slap a bit of Scotch tape on the back (ideally from a handy wrist-mounted dispenser!) to keep them together. It was only when I looked at them afterwards I realised I only actually needed to cut through the yellow and green ones! Still, that would have meant less sticking fun for Ry...
I'm hoping I might be able to recycle this one for some other Olympic comps!
4.00pm - Ding dong! The delivery man is here with Ry's mini micro scooter (alas, not a prize!) so he's out and about learning to use it! A couple of hours later he has mastered the art of scooting so is rewarded with one of my special 'winner' medals - I'll be using this in the Britmums #PGRaisingOlympians bloggers competition!
...and that's how we spent our day comping!
(you may have noticed that Ryland is sporting FOUR different t-shirts in these photos. He is a VERY messy child!)
