Comping on Twitter

Comping on Twitter is becoming more popular - it’s a fast paced, exciting way for a promoter to give away prizes and increase brand awareness, although the lack of rules and proper closing dates can often result in confusion. Like Facebook, Twitter has guidelines on running contests which are not enforced and are rarely adhered to by promoters!

In an ideal world, all promoters would ask us to answer a question or complete a tiebreaker answer as a Twitter competition entry, encouraging brand loyalty and interaction, but usually all they want us to do is click a ‘Retweet’ button. Twitter comping isn't for everyone - if you're at a computer all day then it can be rewarding, but it's tricky to just dip in and out of it as it's so fast-moving!

If you’re interested in comping on Twitter, this short video should be a helpful introduction. I’ll also run through the basics below.

To sign up to Twitter, go to www.twitter.com and complete your name, email address and choose a password. Twitter will assign you a username automatically. Change it to anything you want - something non-memorable might actually help your cause as promoters can easily forget if you’ve won with them before!

Next, find some people to follow. You can follow me at www.twitter.com/superluckydi and www.twitter.com/theprizefinder. Jane Willis at www.twitter.com/janesgrapevine has lots of Twitter advice and tips too - she also has lots of great blog posts about Twitter that you can read here.

Get yourself a profile picture. New Twitter members are automatically given the Twitter ‘egg’ as their profile picture, but it’s better to upload one of your own photos. Promoters might see an ‘Egg’ and presume it’s a spammer or even a fake account. Click on Profile, then ‘Add photo’ and choose one from your computer. Add a small biography too - it helps if your profile looks as friendly as possible.

Do a Twitter search to find some retweet competitions. Most competition tweets will ask you to ‘RT and Follow to win’, so search for ‘RT Win Follow’ and then scroll through the results to find competitions that interest you. You can also search for ‘win competition’ if you want results that aren’t all retweet competitions - you'll find links to competitions on websites and Facebook this way.

For the tweets in your search results, click on the promoters’ names and look on their timeline to check that the comp is still running. Find the competition tweet (sometimes there are several different ones!) and then hover over the tweet until the Retweet button appears. Click it and confirm to send your retweet. You’re now entered into the draw!

In your Timeline you will see your own tweets, tweets from people you follow and retweets from the people you follow.

To send your own original tweet, simply type into the top box and press ENTER.

To reply to a tweet, hover over it in your timeline, then click Reply and type in your text after the recipient's name. A reply will only appear in the timeline of people who are following both you AND the recipient on twitter - but it WILL be visible to visitors on your own Twitter webpage.

Not all competitions are Retweet competitions. Often you will be required to reply rather than retweet, and sometimes you will need to answer a question or tiebreaker. Remember there’s a 140 character limit so you will need to be concise. Promoters might often ask you to include a ‘hashtag’ such as ‘#WinHamper’ in your tweet. When it comes to choosing the winner, they will do a search on that ‘hashtag’ to see all the entries; it’s more reliable than searching for retweets.

If you've won a competition, promoters will contact you either by sending a public ‘@’ mention, which will appear in your ‘@’ Mentions tab, or by a Direct/Private Message. To access these, click the ‘Messages’ tab at the top of the page. A Direct Message (DM) is completely private - often a promoter will refer to you as their winner in an ‘@’ mention, asking you to send them your address details by DM - for example ‘Congratulations @SuperluckyDi, you’re our Twitter RT winner. Please DM your address details.’ You will only be able to Direct Message someone who you are following and who is following you back!

If you’re not using Twitter regularly, go to your Settings, and in the Notifications ensure you have opted to receive an email if someone mentions you or DMs you, so you don’t miss out on a winning notification.

Comping on Twitter: Tips for Success

Once you've got the hang of Retweeting, check out my video on Twitter tips.

The best introduction to comping on Twitter is to check the timelines of successful winners. You’ll see that the ones who win the most prizes are chatting and interacting with friends as well as retweeting competitions regularly.

Very few Twitter competitions have proper rules, those that do will often state ‘one entry per person’ but many promoters don’t actually have the means to check this. Many successful Twitter compers are retweeting competition entries multiple times - even though this is discouraged in Twitter contest guidelines.

Tweeting an entry multiple times. Twitter won’t actually let you use the Retweet button more than once on a specific tweet; a way round this is to copy and paste the tweet, manually adding RT @promotersname at the beginning. With the 140 character restriction, you may need to edit the text to fit. Ensure you don’t remove a hashtag, URL or anything that the promoter might search on to find entries. Please be aware that repeat or similar tweets may be considered ‘spamming’ and your followers might get annoyed and desert you - the best thing to do is to make sure you’re sending lots of normal, chatty tweets too!

How do promoters choose a winner? Unfortunately there is no free, fair method of choosing a winner for a Twitter competition - Twitter searches can exclude some tweets, and will only show the most recent entries. Twitter search tends to filter out ‘poor quality’ accounts where most or all of the tweets are retweets - that’s why you should include original tweets too. When choosing a winner, promoters only see the most recent tweets so try to make your entry in the last few hours of a promotion or the final day of a longer promotion.

It’s presumed that rather than pay to use a service such as Rowfeeder or Offerpop to monitor a contest and choose a winner, most promoters will simply do a search and pick their winner from a list of retweets, without realising that there can be multiple entries from the same person or that some tweets don’t even show up in the search results. With this in mind, your profile photo and name may have an influence on whether you’re picked. Promoters may also check your profile before awarding you the prize - they might not like to see a timeline that’s only competition entries! I win very few Twitter competitions and I think this is probably due to my comp-related username 'SuperluckyDi' - in fact, the only Twitter comps I seem to win are the 'first 10 people to reply get a prize!' type!

Use Lists to get organised. You might feel a bit overwhelmed by all the competition Retweets in your timeline, so you can use a List to organise compers instead of following them. To do this, click on the Lists tab on your homepage, then create a list. You can keep this private - in my case I’m making it public so that you can access it too at http://twitter.com/#!/SuperluckyDi/compers! An easy way to add to your list is to use the ‘RT Follow win’ search - this will display all the competition activity that’s happening right now! You can Save this Search too, as it’s a useful one.

Twitter is also a useful tool to find other competitions. If a promoter is launching a new competition on their blog, website or Facebook page often the first thing they do is Tweet about it - so doing a search on ‘new competition’ or ‘Facebook competition’ is handy too.

My final piece of advice is to download a free copy of Tweetdeck to your computer and smartphone - it is a great tool for seeing all your Twitter activity at once, and offers the capability to schedule tweets - so you can send tweets when you’re away from your computer. I’ll be adding a tutorial on using Tweetdeck for comping very soon!

Now - go tweet!

Photo Comp Round up!

Are you (or did you, depending when you read this!) taking part in the Photobox 24Live Photo Marathon? 24 hourly real-time photo competitions, each with a great prize and a big cash prize for the overall winner! Photo competitions are a creative and exciting way for a promoter to engage with their audience, particularly when hosted on Facebook. Unfortunately I've been too busy (or sleepy!) to enter most of the Photobox challenges, but you can see my entries so far on Flickr.

Here's a round up of the best photo comps I can find right now - maybe there's something here to keep you busy over the Bank Holiday weekend...

Shield Total Insurance have 31 prizes on offer for one lucky winner - upload a photo of a funny, memorable holiday or camping trip via their Facebook page to enter. The winning photo will be judged. Enter before 31 August 2011.

Win return flights from the UK to Sydney by emailing your best photo from an Australia trip to bigpicture@austravel.com by 31 August 2011 - see the Austravel website for more details

Win a family holiday to the Isle of Wight by uploading a photo of your best sandcastle via the Isle of Wight Tourism Facebook page by 31 August 2011 - all entrants will go into a random draw for the prize.

The Grand Marnier Sunset Hour Facebook competition has a trip to Paris on offer, with 200 Grand Marnier goody bags (including a bottle of Grand Marnier) for the runners up. This one is on a daily public vote, so if you haven't entered already you haven't a chance of winning the Paris trip (the top two contestants are fighting to the finish with 1700+ votes!). BUT there are only 252 entries in total so you have a great chance of a goody bag if you can rustle up a couple of votes. Enter before 1 September 2011.

Go Ape are giving away a Neilson ski holiday to Norway and runners up prizes of Merrell gear in their 'Share your Adventure' competition, which unfortunately is decided purely on public vote. To enter, upload a photo of your adventure by 4 September 2011 (every entrant gets a 25% off code for Go Ape too).

Westfield Stratford City have launched the 'Create Your Take' Facebook competition this week. Upload a photo on one of 8 East End themes - as well as judged spot prizes in each category (examples: Hoxton Fin and Market Day!), the photo with the most votes overall will win a cash prize up to £10,000 depending on how many fans the page gets. Enter before 22 September 2011.

Magic Rich is giving away an iPad2 in his annual competition - to enter, upload a photo of you holding up a 'Magic Rich' sign using the Facebook App before 1 October 2011. The winner will be drawn at random.
The ongoing Mini Space competition has a current theme of 'Optical Illusions in Real Life' - upload an entry before 3 October 2011 to be in with a chance of winning an iMac or iPad2.

Nivea are still giving away daily prizes worth £100 to their favourite Moment of Closeness photos. Enter on Facebook before 7 October 2011.

Win an iPad2 and Digital Camera in the Pea Soup Magazine competition - email them a photo for the theme 'If 8 million acted like this...' which highlights the positive steps that we can take to make a difference in London. Closing date 7 October 2011.

Win a family trip to New York and a photoshoot by uploading your family photos at the Hotpoint website. The 100 most popular will be judged - every voter gets entered into a draw to win an appliance too. Enter before 10 October 2011.

Breo are offering £5000 to spend on your dream holiday - upload a photo of the 'best time of your life' explaining why the photo is special, and tell them where you would go if you won the competition. Warning - the best entries will go to public vote to decide the winner! Enter on Facebook before 13 October 2011.

Upload your interior design photos and tips at the Dunelm Mill Facebook page to win their monthly prize of £100.

Taste of Spain are giving away a monthly prize to their favourite Spanish food-themed photo on their Facebook page, as well as a Spanish foods hamper for every 200 Likes they get!

Don't forget to check Holiday comping for kids for a few kids photo comps too!

Summer Sundae Festival

Last weekend I took the family on a day trip over to Summer Sundae Festival in Leicester. We were lucky enough to win tickets in the recent Alpro Soya Festival Photo competition on Facebook, and I was really excited about it as it's a very family-orientated event and I wanted to see how Ryland would get on!

We arrived at the festival at around 11am. Now to me, that's super late but casting my mind back to my teenage summers spent at Reading and Glastonbury I seem to recall I was barely out of my sleeping bag by that time! So it wasn't surprising to arrive on site and see hardly any folk at all apart from some young girls covered in green handprints.

We headed straight for the big Alpro tent, which was brilliant and had a free prize draw to win a spa break (you can also enter this online here). As well as providing visitors with delicious free breakfast of granola and Alpro soya yogurts, they had a giant BREAKFEST bowl which you could climb into and have your photo taken by an overhead camera and uploaded straight to Facebook. On climbing in, I hadn't realised precisely how deep the thing would be and promptly disappeared underneath all the balls...eek!
Alpro also gave out goody bags of puddings and yogurts to everyone on their way home which I thought was a nice touch. I'll be honest, I've not really had any soya milk or products since I dabbled in veganism whilst I was a student (well, everyone in Bradford was a skateboarding straight edge vegan back in the 90s!) but they actually taste really good. Ryland is a huge fan of the chocolate pudding, which unfortunately has left its mark on several items of clothing. And the walls.
So, back to the festival... we spent much of the day in the kids area where there were craft tents, circus workshops, flower sculptures, hat making, an indoor 'inventions' zone and soft play area for the littlest guests. Ry got to decorate his own hideous yellow biscuit, and we made loads of bubbles with those plastic bits from 4-packs of lager and a big tub of soapy water (genius!)
The kids could also help to make this giant foil covered bicycle-aeroplane hybrid - Ry didn't look too impressed at sitting in it but seeing Rob in his pilot's hat reminds me of a lovely photo we have of his dad posing in a plane from years ago!
Music wise, the kids were treated to the 'Dead Victorians' and the 'Sonic Manipulator', both acts probably far more appealing to grown ups due to immense weirdness. Here's a little film of the Sonic Manipulator at work.

After the kids area had closed for the evening we watched the Young Knives and the Cuban Brothers on the main stage. Hugely inappropriate yet hilarious stage banter from the Cuban Brothers included complimenting the girls in the front row on their breasts, and then appearing onstage in skimpy pants - and let me tell you, these guys aren't young! I think all the kids waiting at the front to see Example must have been mortified when one brother's penis 'accidentally' popped out of his undies. I'm glad I was standing too far away to have seen that happen!

By this time Ry had nodded off, so we sat on deckchairs watching the sunset and listening to the hideous backing track shambles that was Example. I'm a little sad because McFly were headlining, and they would have suited sunset much better! As it was, rather than wait to see them we headed indoors to watch Warpaint and Everything Everything. Indie Gods! Ry's ear defenders meant he slept soundly through it all - hurrah!

So, that was our warm up day at a festival- next month we've won tickets to Alex James presents Harvest and will be camping. I haven't even won a tent yet so I'd better get a move on - anyone seen any good comps?

Live like a Princess, Di!

For me, the most magical part of comping is when you win a luxurious treat that you could never justify splashing out on - unless you're a celebrity of course! My prize treats in the last few years have included designer clothes, VIP tickets to the Brazilian Grand Prix, an £800 Selfridges hamper, wine tasting trips, a Parisian shopping day and lots more. I've always been incredibly ambitious with my comping and really believe that with lots of positive thought and effort, it's possible to win anything - who knows, one day I could even be living in the infamous 'Daily Mail Dream Cottage'!

My latest prize from GEM106 (my local radio station) was one of these lovely 'treats' - they called it their 'Live like a Princess' promotion. I regularly check my favourite station websites like TalkSport, XFM, Absolute and GEM just incase they're running any comps where you need to register your details in advance and wait for a callback. If you register early before they start advertising the competition online then you have a good chance of being picked to go on air for the first show. For the GEM competition, each day two contestants competed to answer the most quickfire questions in a minute and at the end of the week the person with the most points won the prize. I was called and asked to go on air on Wednesday morning, with a score of 13 to beat. I managed to get 14 and listened with fingers crossed till Friday afternoon... The final competitor scored just 4!

The prize was fabulous: tickets to the ballet at The Royal Opera House, a night's stay in a suite at the Ritz and £100. In addition I won a makeover and £100 to spend at the Mac shop, and two day passes for the lovely Eden Hall Spa.

I went to the Nottingham Mac store for my makeover on the morning of my 37th birthday, as usual looking like a tired mother with squinty eyes and a shiny nose. I explained I needed make-up that wouldn't take me long to do and looked natural. I think they did a splendid job, though even with all the products I haven't managed to recreate it quite as successfully myself since...

So, onto the most exciting part of my prize... our visit to London! Last Saturday morning we left Ryland with his Nana and jumped on a train into the city. Tea at the Ritz wasn't part of the prize (and to be honest we didn't really fancy it) so instead we put our £100 towards an amazing lunch at The Ledbury, one of London's top restaurants (sadly, it's probably more famous for being trashed in last week's riots). We sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed a 10 course tasting menu that lasted over 4 hours. Beautifully cooked and presented, it was an incredible experience - if you like cheese as much as I do, you can't fail to be impressed by this fabulous cheese trolley (I'm amazed the waiter let me pose for this photo actually!)
Leaving the Ledbury, we made our way to The Ritz, which  was everything I expected it to be - beautiful interior, charming staff, impeccable service and ridiculously strict dress code (you have to wear a tie for afternoon tea, or even just a drink at the bar!)

We checked in to a beautiful Junior Suite - I've never seen a hotel room like it, it was gigantic...
I must admit we were somewhat disappointed at the lack of a kettle (how very British of us!), and at £10 decided not to bother with the Toblerone in the mini-bar... After climbing into the Ottoman at the end of the bed (well... wouldnt you?) we slipped into our Ritz bathrobes and slippers and relaxed before heading out to see 'Swan Lake' at the Royal Opera House.
I've never been to the Royal Opera House, or to the ballet, before so it was a rather exciting experience. We had tickets in the Upper Auditorium, and the view was incredible.
I foolishly presumed that having watched 'Black Swan' the previous week, I knew how it would end, so I was disappointed when the ending was a real damp squib. Standing to leave, I realised nobody had taken their coats... well, how was I to know they have TWO intervals in these things? We sat back down and needless to say, the real ending was much better (thankfully it was a happy ending rather than the Black Swan' style finale!). I don't know much about ballet, but the spinning round was breathtaking and the costumes were beautiful - it felt wonderfully old-fashioned to be watching it and I just wish there had been a bit more room to relax in the seats (maybe next time I'll win a Royal Box!)

The next morning we had an excellent breakfast of haddock in champagne sauce in the Ritz restaurant before heading to the North Face shop to spend £175 vouchers (a prize in a recent Facebook comp) on posh wellington boots for our summer festivals, then headed home.

On Saturday I enjoyed the final part of this amazing prize - a 'Heavenly Body' Spa Day at Eden Hall Spa. I've been to Eden Hall several times before on various prize trips, and every time they've done a bit of refurbishment and made it even more lovely. On this visit it was warm enough to wander round the new garden in our robes and we even had a go at some archery. Carmy was far better at it than me!
The spa day was great as I don't get much time away from Ryland to relax - I'm also addicted to my iPhone so it was nice to shut it away in a locker and enjoy an hour long massage without worrying about what was in my Inbox!

Thankyou so much Gem for such an unusual and generous prize. I really did live like a Princess, even if it was just for a few days!

Holiday comping for kids

Well here we are in the middle of the school holidays... have you run out of things to do with the kids yet? Art and craft activities are always good fun even with the tiniest of toddlers and if there's an opportunity to use their creative spark to enter a competition then I highly recommend it. Many kids colouring competitions (especially the local ones) get hardly any entries and you could end up winning some lovely prizes for your budding artist!

At Miniwardrobe.com you can win 'a number of' £100 vouchers by putting together an outfit using the Mini Dresser tool (I think this is probably more one for the parents than the kids!). No closing date specified.

Win Letraset Pro Markers by colouring in a cute Manga picture available to download from their blog. The main prizewinner will be chosen at random from all entries and their two favourites will also get prizes. It's open to all ages so print off a couple of copies and get involved yourself! Closes 17 August 2011.

Giant Strides are giving away vouchers and Crocs in their drawing competition on Facebook - upload a drawing of a Crocs character to enter (for age 4-12). Closing date: 28 August 2011.

Matalan are running a Horrid Henry colouring competition to win an action-packed family adventure weekend plus runners-up prizes - to enter, collect a form in store or print off this PDF and post to Matalan before 31 August 2011.

Win a fabulous children's easel at the Wooden Toys Blog by posting a photo of your little one being artistic on their Facebook wall. Enter before 31 August 2011.

Orchard Toys are giving away a Teddy Bears Picnic jigsaw - download their colouring sheet on Facebook and email or post back to them by 31 August 2011.

Design an advert for Gluten Free 'O's kids cereal to win an iPad - the three entries with the most votes will be judged (the top entry only has 36 votes so far though) and the two runners-up win art materials. See the Facebook App for details - closes 31 August 2011.

Upload your Dance Dance video at disney.co.uk to enter the Disney competition to win a trip to Los Angeles - the ten finalists will be chosen by judges and all will win an XBox, then they will go to a public vote to decide the holiday winner. Closes 31 August 2011.

Horsey types will love the colouring comp at the Utterly Horses website - you can win a Strikey model horse or runners up prizes. Its open to all ages so you can join in too - enter before 3 September 2011.

Pop in to Ella's Toy Shop in Leamington Spa to pick up their colouring competition, and win one of three prizes of Orchard Toys. See the Raring2Go wesbite for more information - closes 3 September 2011.

Visit Pumpkin Patch at Derby's Westfield Centre to collect a Charley Bear colouring sheet (or download this PDF) and return by 3 September 2011 to receive a free gift and have a chance of winning £150 Pumpkin Patch vouchers. I wonder if this might be running at other branches too?

If you live in Bedfordshire you could win a family ticket to Mead Open Farm in their goat colouring competition(!) - print off the entry form here and post back to the farm by 5 September 2011.

If you're out and about having fun, take your camera with you and get a family photo for the brilliant Milkshake! competition to win 25 VTech Kiddizoom cameras - plus one winner gets the chance to be a toy tester. Email your photos before 16 September 2011 - winning photos will be the most colourful, exciting and fun!

One of my favourite competitions right now is the wonderful Cath Kidston Pebble comp, with a prize of £50 Cath Kidston vouchers for the best decorated pebble in two age categories. Closes 17 September 2011.

Over at Claire's Ninja Killer Cat blog, you can win a lovely little girl's tray kit - to enter you need to tweet a drawing of a fairy to @needaphone and comment on the blog! Closes 17 September 2011.

If you or your kids win prizes in any of these comps, please do let me know at the Super Lucky Facebook page!

Win Amazon vouchers in the DSA Video Competition

Here at Super Lucky I always like to champion imaginative and creative competitions - simply because they're so much more fun to enter than simple prize draws, and it's great to see photos and videos of real people instead of models and actors all the time! And of course, because they require time and effort, they have less entries and are easier to win.

The lovely folk at DSA have launched a video competition to promote awareness of the 'Show Me Tell Me' part of the driving test. If you're as old as I am, you will have passed your test in the 1990s and won't have a clue what this is about! It's a new part of the test where you have to actually show your examiner the safety checks you would do before taking your vehicle out on a journey - for example checking your oil level or tyre pressure.

On YouTube and the I Can't Wait to Pass my Driving Test Facebook page you can see some examples of the safety checks, and for the competition DSA want you to film a video of your own safety checks and upload it to YouTube. Top prize is a £150 Amazon voucher for the most entertaining and informative video, and two runners up prizes of £25 vouchers. Suggestions for your video are:
  • a chat about what to look for under the bonnet
  • one of the vehicle safety checks
  • a vid higlighting the importance of safety checks through song
  • a dramatic look at checking your head restraint

The deadline for submissions is 30th August 2011 and you can find out more about the competition at facebook.com/mydrivingtest. Good luck!

WOW Toys £1000 Video Competition

WOW Toys are running a great video competition at the moment with a fabulous £1000 cash up for grabs, along with ten runners up prizes of WOW Toys of your choice to the value of £50! You all know how I'm always banging on about these 'creative' comps: there won't be many entries at all so if you have a camcorder and the time then you really should give it a go - with eleven prizes on offer there's a great chance of winning something.

The brief is simple: make a video less than 30 seconds long that shows how lovable yet tough WOW Toys are. Don't worry if you don't have editing software; if you plan your idea carefully you should be able to do it in one take. Email your video to wowtoysvideoclips@gmail.com or upload it on YouTube and email the link to Wow. But be quick - it closes on Friday 12th August!

I was lucky enough to win a WOW helicopter in an NCT charity raffle last year and I'd been saving it to give Ryland on his 18 month 'halfday' last month, so this comp was perfectly timed for me to film him unwrapping it! We took Harry Copter up to Nottingham University campus to film: I must have thrown the chopper down the stairs 20 times and it still works perfectly... pretty impressive!

Read more about the competition and check out all the cute entries at the WOW Toys Facebook page - good luck!

All about my new job!

So, I have some rather exciting news. I've got a new job!

Not only that, it's pretty much my dream job. Before having Ryland I worked freelance as a Graphic Designer, mainly working in-house at design agencies. Unflexible childcare arrangements mean it's impossible for me to work outside my home, and I only have a few clients, so I've been wondering about what step my career should take next. I enjoy my artworking, but I love my blogging and competitions - so how on earth can I combine the two and make an income? Hmmmm...

The Prize Finder
A couple of weeks ago I heard from Accolade Publishing that they wanted to liven up their online competition resource ThePrizefinder.com. The Prize Finder celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, has won a Web User Gold Award, been mentioned by Jo Whiley on Radio 1 and even featured in Cosmopolitan's recent article on how to get rich! It has thousands of competitions listed, and is my first port of call when I'm searching for prizes on my wish list. Steve Higson is the man working hard behind the scenes, but Accolade needed someone to take the helm of the social side - looking after the Facebook and Twitter pages and writing a PrizeFinder blog. This is what I've been doing with Super Lucky for over a year now, so naturally I jumped at the chance to be paid for it! As well as entering (and winning) competitions I love sharing them so it's the ideal job for a Mum who's at home all day.

At a meeting with Accolade this week we discussed improvements to The Prize Finder site and I would love to hear any feedback you have. Over the next few weeks we'll be adding a blog and encouraging people to interact more on the site, and on the PrizeFinder Facebook page and Twitter. If you've won prizes as a result of the Prize Finder then do let us know - you could win a £100 cash prize! You can email your details and a photo at www.theprizefinder.com/winners-page

Over the next few weeks there will be improvements made to the website, and the PrizeFinder blog will get off the ground - I hope I can rely on SuperLucky followers to add the blog to your Google Reader! I'll be trialling some fun ideas to get people chatting about comps on Facebook and Twitter too, and I'll be donning my PrizeFinder hat (this of course is likely to be an actual hat!) and helping you find competitions to win your dream prize. As this year is the PrizeFinder's tenth anniversary there will be celebrations and competitions planned, and lots of exciting things going on.

Compers News
In addition to my work on the PrizeFinder's social media channels, I'm going to be taking over the design of Compers News magazine. I've blogged before about how the editor Steve Middleton and I are good friends; we live about a mile apart in Nottingham, which surely is fast becoming the comping capital! Since first subscribing to Compers News ten years ago, I've always wanted the job of typesetting the publication. I'm a stickler for detail, pride myself on accuracy and have always felt that compers should be in charge of competition magazines, so I'm delighted that I'm to be trusted with the job. It's going to involve some late nights but with a baby around I'm used to tapping away on a keyboard in the early hours...

So, how will my new job affect the SuperLucky blog?
As I will be blogging over at the PrizeFinder, it makes sense for me to do my regular recipe, photo and creative comp round ups over there, as well as blogging about Facebook comping, tips and advice so I get the biggest possible readership.

Naturally, I'll still be keeping you up to date here at SuperLucky with my own entries and successes (or failures!) in the creative competitions and all the adventures I have on my prize wins. The blog comp linky is proving a big success and runs itself now with a little moderation from me, so that will still be a regular monthly post at SuperLucky. I'll continue to share my favourite quirky, creative and low entry comps on the Super Lucky Facebook page, alongside a wider range of comps on the Prize Finder page - so make sure you 'Like' them both!

Finally, thankyou for all your support and feedback over the last couple of years. I've had many messages from readers who have been inspired by my blog and gone on to win amazing things. I hope that my enthusiasm for comping will continue to spread and help more people win the prizes that they really want!

Blog Comp Linky: September 2011

Welcome to my blog comp linky for competitions that are closing in SEPTEMBER. Please add your competition to the list, including the prize and the closing date - and your blog name if you can fit it in! You can access this post and the OCTOBER linky via the links on the right hand side bar.
